As I throw all of my work on a McMeekin momentum wheel I needed to use a clay that was softer then most throwing bodies yet had the strength to stand up and take full bodied forms. I initially developed a recipe from a blend of Potclays' commercial bodies - Staffordshire Stoneware for plasticity, Craft Crank for iron content and texture (in the grog content) and Reduction St Thomas for its throwing qualities and sand.
