Manganese carbonate supplies MnO.
Used to create metallic, black, brown, or purple/plum glazes. Decomposes on heating to MnO2 and CO2; must be fired above 1080 C to break down the MnO2 to MnO. A source of manganese in glazes. Occurs naturally as the mineral Rhodochrosite.
