Create a unique texture on any surface with Curtis Texture Paste-Iron, developed by renowned ceramic artist Eddie Curtis. Whether used alone or combined with a porcelain slip, this iron-coloured paste provides endless possibilities for achieving natural and organic textures. This paste creates varying shades of cream, tan and brown when used alone or alongside Curtis Texture Paste - Neutral.
Application
Apply directly to soft or leather-hard clay using a stiff brush, palette knife or flat wooden tool. Build up areas of varying thickness to create textured surfaces and patterns. To help retain texture and structure, dry the surface quickly using a heat gun or blow torch. Once the paste is dry and firm to the touch, a layer of porcelain slip can be brushed over the surface if desired.
Experimenting with different application thicknesses can produce a variety of effects. Thinner layers allow more of the underlying clay or surface colour to show through, while thicker applications create more pronounced texture.
